As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we’re shining a spotlight on the dedicated team at Ablewight Chimney Services and the customers who have been part of our journey.
A Family Business with a Strong Foundation
Ablewight Chimney Services was founded in 1980 by Bil Wight, a pioneering figure in the industry. Not only did he establish the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps, but he also authored the City and Guilds Chimney Sweeping Qualification, setting the gold standard for professional sweeps across the UK.

Bil Wight received the Lifetime Achievement award from the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps in 2011 for his services to the chimney sweeping industry.

When Lisa Wight took over the business in 2015, she wasn’t just stepping into a leadership role—she was taking on the responsibility of continuing the company’s legacy while bringing it into the modern age. With the support of a dedicated team and a loyal customer base, Ablewight has continued to grow and evolve.
The Strength of the Ablewight Team
At the heart of Ablewight’s success is its incredible team, whose hard work and commitment keep the business running smoothly.
James Inman has been a key part of the team since 2018. A highly skilled and approachable chimney sweep, James is frequently praised by customers for his professionalism, expertise, and friendly nature.

Val Waring, the office manager since 2019, is an essential part of the business. She ensures that daily operations run smoothly, handling everything from scheduling to customer communication, and is often the friendly voice that customers hear when they call.
“Having a strong, supportive team has been instrumental in Ablewight’s growth,” says Lisa. “James and Val are both essential to our success, and their dedication to providing excellent service is why our customers return year after year.”
Loyal Customers Who Make It All Possible
Our customers are at the heart of everything we do. Many have been with us for decades, trusting Ablewight to keep their homes safe and their chimneys well-maintained.

⭐ “You are one of the best companies we ever deal with for anything! Friendly, efficient, do a good job etc etc. Please post this where the world will see it. Thank you.” – Richard and Jen Allaway
It’s feedback like this that motivates us to continually improve and provide the best possible service.

Balancing Tradition with Modernisation
Under Lisa’s leadership, Ablewight has embraced modern booking systems, streamlined processes, and enhanced customer communication while maintaining the company’s long-standing commitment to high-quality service and industry best practices. This balance between tradition and innovation has helped the business earn over 550 five-star Google reviews.
Celebrating International Women’s Day – and the Whole Team
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, “For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment,” is a reminder that businesses thrive when they recognise the contributions of every team member, regardless of gender. The “Accelerate Action” campaign theme encourages continuous progress, something Ablewight has always prioritised.
“This business isn’t just about me,” Lisa adds. “It’s about the incredible team and our loyal customers. Together, we’ve built something special, and I’m proud to work alongside people who genuinely care about the work we do.”
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we want to thank our customers, recognise our team, and continue working towards an even stronger future.
