Chimney Sweeping
How to avoid a chimney fire
How often should you have your chimney swept?
Frequency of chimney sweeping is directly related to the type of fuel you burn and can require a chimney being swept up to four times a year. However once a year is definitely a must to maintain the safety of your chimney and to avoid any worries of a chimney fire.
According to The Fire and Rescue Service, they recommend frequency of chimney sweeping based on the below fuels burnt.
How often should you get your chimney swept based on fuels burnt?
Oil – Once a year
Gas – Once a year
Bituminous coal – twice a year
Wood – Up to four times a year
Smokeless coals – At least once a year
